About the Project
The REVITALISER Project is dedicated to enhancing the capabilities of the ECoE in protecting archaeological sites from illegal excavations and looting across the EMMENA region. By fostering strategic collaborations with world-class institutions—Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK), and Maastricht University (UM)—the project integrates cutting-edge technologies like Earth Observation (EO), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Machine Learning (ML) with expertise in cultural property protection, criminology, and policy development. This interdisciplinary approach aims to bridge the research gap between Cyprus and Europe while positioning the ECoE as a leader in safeguarding cultural heritage.

Objectives
The REVITALISER Project is driven by a set of strategic objectives aimed at strengthening the scientific excellence, innovation capacity, and research leadership of the ECoE in Cultural Property Protection (CPP). By leveraging advanced Earth Observation (EO) techniques, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and criminology expertise, the project enhances the ability to detect and prevent illegal excavations and looting activities in the EMMENA region.
Deliverables
The REVITALISER Project is structured into 10 Work Packages (WPs), each focusing on different aspects of research, training, and technology for protecting cultural heritage. These WPs produce 22 key deliverables, including new tools, studies, and guidelines that support cultural property protection.
