As part of the REVITALISER Twinning project, members of the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence Cultural Heritage Cluster travelled to Trento, Italy, for a three-day technical secondment (27th-30th of Apil 2025), hosted by Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK).
The training was facilitated by Dr Fabio Remondino and Dr Elisa Farella from the 3DOM – 3D Optical Metrology unit, which specialises in accurate 3D measurements and reality-based 3D reconstruction. Through a balanced mix of lectures and practical sessions, ECoE researchers explored point cloud classification with machine learning, photogrammetric reconstruction in Metashape, and deep-learning algorithms for the super-resolution of satellite imagery.
The participants from ECoE, Christos Theocharidis, Demetris D. Christofi and Andreas Livadiotis, left Trento with new technical skills directly applicable to the documentation and preservation of cultural heritage sites, and with strengthened ties between the two research communities.
